I’ve recently added a new creative service to my roster—one that combines everything I love: writing, editing, and performing. Wedding celebrancy.
How I got here
When my dear friends Misha and Caroline asked me to officiate their wedding in Portugal last year, I was thrilled. There’s no better job than helping two people say ‘I do’ in a way that feels personal, warm, and joyful. We collaborated on a ceremony that was concise but meaningful, reflecting who they are as a couple and the values they share—one that showcased their love in a way that let the guests feel it too.
My Approach
I believe a wedding ceremony should feel like you, not a script pulled off the internet. When we work together, I’ll get to know your story: how you met, what makes your relationship work, the inside jokes, the special moments that led you to the altar.
Whether you want:
- A traditional ceremony with classic vows and readings
- Something lighthearted and funny
- A spiritual or non-religious ceremony centered on your values
- A custom-written ceremony built entirely around your story
…I’ll help create something that feels authentic to who you are as a couple. It’s a fully collaborative process.
What’s Included
- An initial consultation to get to know you both
- A fully custom-written ceremony (or help personalizing a template, if you prefer)
- Help for each party to write custom vows if so desired
- Leading the ceremony on your wedding day
A quick note: as a celebrant (sometimes also called an officiant), I create and lead personal, meaningful ceremonies—but in Portugal, the legal marriage is completed separately through civil registration. I’m happy to point you toward the right resources if needed.
Beyond the Ceremony
Since I’m already there thinking about music, mood, and flow, I’m happy to help however else I can, whether that’s connecting you with trusted vendors like DJs, or even performing a jazz set myself during your reception. I’ve been performing for 25 years.
